Description:
The Fashion Media program within SMU's Division of Journalism invites applications for a non-tenure-track Professor of Practice position beginning in August 2024. The fast-growing Fashion Media major emphasizes basic skills in journalism and media production as well as the historical, cultural, and business aspects of fashion.

Teaching responsibilities will focus on media production, including writing for digital platforms, commerce, magazines, brands, social media, and public relations and/or visual skills such as photography and graphic design. The anticipated teaching workload is four courses per semester and may include other Journalism and/or Fashion Media courses depending on area of expertise. The position begins August 1, 2024.

The successful candidate will join a growing, innovative community that seeks to provide students with the skills and conceptual knowledge needed to succeed in the fast-changing media landscape.


Qualifications:
A bachelors degree in media, journalism, communications, or related field is required. University-level teaching experience and a masters degree are preferred. The ideal candidate will possess at least three years of professional media experience, including work for regional or national magazines and media outlets. Hiring is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of a background check.
